Abstract:

 For the problems of high energy consumption, high material consumption and low efficiency in the production of reverse idler forging billet, a closed precision forging process of reverse idler was proposed. The process of closed precision forging was divided into two steps. Forming force was larger in step 1, and the conventional forging die was used which could not only ensure the strength of die, but also complete the upsetting of big end and the forming of circular grooves on both sides of the big end. Forming force was smaller in step 2, by using the hydraulic opening and closing die and the mechanical clamping force, the big end formed and the rod were fixed, and then the small end was upsetting. The conventional forging die and the hydraulic opening and closing die can be used together to realize forging with less margin and no flash. Compared with the common forging process, the material utilization rate of forging products is increased by 20%-40%, and the production efficiency of manual operation is about 100 pieces per hour. Under the closed precision forging process, the forging products produced in batch meet the requirements, and the die strength of two steps also meet the production requirements.
