Abstract:

 For the special complex product structure of the steering knuckle for IVECO automobile and the quality problems in the actual mass production, such as forming difficulties of side arm, lack of materials, folding, low qualification rate and so on, the plastic finite element model of the steering knuckle for IVEVO automobile was constructed by finite element software Deform to build pre-forgings and final forging molds, and the metal flow processes of pre-forgings and final forgings were analyzed. Then, the pre-forgings and final forgings of the steering knuckle for IVECO automobile were analyzed and researched, and the unreasonable conclusions of the initial design for the pre-forgings  and the pre-forging mold structure of steering knuckle were obtained. Hence, the pre-forgings and the pre-forging mold of steering knuckle were redesigned and optimized, and the actual production was conducted. Furthermore, the material utilization rate of the steering knuckle forgings for IVECO automobile and the qualification rate were increased by 6.3% and 3.3% respectively, and the technical design experience was accumulated successfully.
