Abstract:

The hot stamping die with a cooling system was designed to investigate the hot stamping process of the boron alloy steel sheet by experiment, and the influences of contact state between the blank and die on the mechanical properties of ultra-high strength steel were analyzed. The results show that comparing with stamping at room temperature, the springback angles are greatly reduced after hot stamping to effectively improve the dimensional precision of parts, and the tensile strength and yield strength of the boron alloy steel sheet are obviously improved after hot stamping to reach around 1400 MPa and 1000 MPa respectively. In addition, it is found that the mechanical properties of tensile strength and yield strength and the martensitic microstructures of the hot stamped part show inhomogeneous phenomenon due to the influence of the cooling condition at the blank/mold interface. Thus, the sidewall of the part is of higher tensile strength and lower elongation compared with other locations.
