Title:FEM numerical simulation on multi-pass heat spinning for curvilinear-shape irregular workpiece of superalloy Ni-Cr-W-Mo

Abstract:

For some quality problems of rupture at the beginning of spinning and fracture on the edge of workpiece during the heat spinning process, an elastic-plastic FEM model of multi-pass heat spinning for curvilinearshape irregular workpiece of superalloy Ni-Cr-W-Mo was established by ABAQUS /Explicit, and the distribution features of stress and strain fields and the mechanism of defect formation in the multi-pass heat deformation process were analyzed. Then, the influences of process parameters on the second pass of heat spinning were further discussed, and the reliability of model was validated by experiment at last. The results show that due to the large differences of stress, uneven deformation easily appears inside or outside surface of plate, even fracture in the first pass of heat spinning. However, at the beginning stage of the second pass of heat spinning (2-5 s), the equivalent strain increases quickly, and the stack and wrinkle of material can be formed easily. In addition, when the rotary wheel fillet radius (R=10 mm) and rotary wheel feed ratio (f=1.0 mm·r-1 ) are large enough, the workpiece trends to wrinkling easily.
