Abstract:

Nine forging processes with different directions of alloy Ti-6Al-4V-2Fe were conducted by thermo-mechanical coupled simulation, and the temperature field and equivalent strain field during whole deformation processes were obtained. Then, the microstructures at six typical positions in workpiece were analyzed combining with the temperature calculation result. The results indicate that the most of deformation interior to the workpiece is conducted on β single phase region, and the lamellar Widmanstatten structure with primitive β grain boundary can be observed because of the small cooling rate and deformation. Finally, because the temperature cools into α+β double phase regions with high cooling rate, the workpiece surface transformes to basket weave structure. Thus, the equivalent strain increases as the forging step is gradually carried out, and the equivalent strain deceases gradually from center to surface.
