Abstract:

 The sun gear is an important part of the planetary gear transmission mechanism. Based on the structural feature of sun gear, two cold extrusion designs on internal-external tooth and spline process were put forward by one-time and step-by-step extrusion. Then, the above two processes were numerically simulated by Deform-3D plastic finite element analysis software,and the forming process and forming quality were analyzed and compared. The numerical simulation and experiment indicate that the inner spline and external tooth of the sun gear can be formed by step-by-step cold extrusion. Step-by-step forming process method can simplify the structure of punch and prolong the service life of die,at the same time,it is a very good way to avoid metal accumulation and other quality defects which are produced by one-time forming process. Therefore, an external gear cold sizing process is added in slep-by-step forming process,and the forming quality of the external gear is improved while ensuring the quality of the internal spline.
