Abstract:

The extrusion features of fixed-mandrel piercing for seamless aluminum tube were analyzed, and its process was put forward based on the curve of piercing force on the mandrel and extrusion route. Then, different fixed-mandrel structures of piercing were introduced, a new structure of fixed-mandrel piercing  with external hydraulic fixation was proposed, and its advantages were analyzed. The control method combining proportional relief valve with high frequency sound proportional valve was given. The research result shows that the precision of the fixed needle can be controlled within ±1 mm, and the extrusion test of large seamless aluminum tube was conducted on the 125 MN double action extrusion press by hydraulic transmission based on the above research result. The actual curves of piercing force on the mandrel and extrusion route were drawn. The test data are consist with the research result.
