Abstract:

 Aluminum alloy profiled ring is an important structural part for aerospace and national 

 
defense equipment. Nowadays aluminum profiled ring is usually formed by free forging or by 
 
rolling forming simplified as rectangle section ring. So the ring production cycle is too long 
 
with low material utilization rate, poor ring organization performance, which severely 
 
restricts the application and development of this ring. The rolling process of aluminum alloy 
 
2A14 cone cylinder ring was numerically simulated and researched by experiments, and the 
 
similar shape forging blank design method and the taper ring rolling process calculation 
 
method of the reasonable process parameters were put forward. Then, based on ABAQUS/Explicit 
 
platform, the three dimensional coupled thermo-mechanical finite element model for the ring 
 
rolling process was established. And by analyzing the influence of the blank structure on the 
 
dimension error and the deformation uniformity of the formed ring, the minimum size error of 
 
equal section area blank was obtained. Furthermore, the simulation result was verified by 
 
experiment of rolling, and the qualified tapered cylindrical ring was rolled out successfully.
