Abstract:

 The size control of axial forgings was realized by measuring the axial forgings size continuously during the forging process, giving feedback results to control system, and controlling the real rolling reduction of the press machine. The forgings diameter online measuring system was designed based on ARM, which detected edges of forgings by laser sensor,measured the distance between two edges of forgings by displacement sensor,and revised the initial diameter by photos containing edge information taken by the industrial camera.The system applied non-contact measurement method to realize the whole measuring process automatically with short time and without calibration. The result of experiment taken in from the laboratory shows that the measuring error of this system can be controlled within 1 mm.
