Abstract:

Based on the software Deform-3D, the FEA model and heat conduction model of hot rotary forging for auto semi-axle were built, and the influence of the temperature distribution on the die wear during the forming was studied. The FEA result was validated by the experimental result. The result shows that in the hot rotary forging of auto semi-axle forming process, the temperature rises quickly, and the peak temperature reaches 599 ℃ at the flange transition position of the die because of the interaction of the heat transformation with the plastic shear. Therefore, the surface hardness of the die declines to cause severe wear  at the position of the flange transition position of the die.
