Abstract:

A new abutment mold material GH403 alloy for continuous extrusion was fabricated by casting and forging processes based on K403 alloy. Then the structure and mechanical properties of GH403 alloy were observed and analyzed. Furthermore, the application experiment was finished on TLJ400 type continuous extrusion machine using GH403 alloy abutment. The results show that GH403 alloy has uniform microstructure and good comprehensive performance in the aspects of strengthening and toughening, which can meet the need of continuous extrusion of copper magnesium alloy. In the continuous extrusion process of high strength copper magnesium alloy, GH403 alloy abutment has well cost-effective because of good extrusion life which is 17 times higher than that of H13 steel.
