Abstract:

The influence of straightening speed of heavy rail on residual stress after straightening was studied. The FEM model of nine roller horizontal straightening with 60 kg·m-1 heavy rail was established by Pro/E, and the straightening process was simulated by ANSYS Workbench. The residual stresses after straightening by the straightening speed on-site was compared with that of the assumed. The results show that, with other conditions unchanged,the longitudinal residual tensile stress is less than 250 MPa when the straightening speed is at 1.4-1.6 m·s-1. Thus, the distribution of residual stress is reasonable and the straightening requirement is met. It has a great significance in the practical production site, because the efficiency increases by 16.7%-33.3% comparing with the condition under straightening speed of 1.2 m·s-1.
