Title:Research on combined application of stretch and incremental forming in the sheet metal of rapid manufacture

Abstract:
By analyzing process characteristic of the stretch forming(SF)and incremental forming(IF), the system which can determine the boundary without fitting the die by SF was built using finite element analysis. The process parameters of the combined forming were set in order to form on the original incremental forming equipment by one clamping system. The quality of parts by incremental forming and combined forming was analyzed through experiment. The results show that combined forming can improve the geometry accuracy and obtain more uniformity in thickness distribution. Furthermore, the larger the stroke length is, the more accuracy is obtained. However, it leads to a more serious thickness thinning and even causes parts to crack. The forming in the area of grooves is machined by part layer with fixed axis, and it has good surface quality and high accuracy compared with contour layer processing.
