Title:Design and experimental research on capacitor energy storage system for servo press

Abstract:
For the problem that electric energy generated through regenerative braking of servo press motor was dissipated into heat energy by braking resistor, a capacitor energy storage system was designed and implemented based on self-developed 2000 kN crank servo press and technical specifications were given. Aluminum electrolytic capacitors of Japan Nichicon NY series were used in the system. Because of the capacitance 12 mF and the rated voltage 450 V of single capacitor, the overall capacitance 750 mF and the overall rated voltage 900 V can be given by 250 capacitors series parallel connection mode. Four kinds of working conditions were supported for the capacitor energy storage system such as precharge, normal, overvoltage discharge and releasing the remaining energy. The signals of charged and discharged voltage, current and temperature parameters etc. were connected into an acquisition module, which was connected to the main controller Simotion by Profibus-DP fieldbus. The experimental result indicates that the exchanged response of this system is so fast as to reduce the impact of instantaneous large current on power grid and capacity requirements of rectifier during the servo press working, and the designed technical specifications are achieved.
