Abstract:

For the problems appearing in single-step die production of U-shaped cross-section arcuated stampings, like high cost, low precision and low production efficiency, a solution using multi-position progressive die instead of single-step die was proposed. Manufacturability of U-shaped cross-section arcuated stampings was analyzed in details and their layout program was designed accordingly. When the part was formed in arc-shape, strip wrinkling caused by material flow was solved through improving the connection type between carrier and strip to ensure feeding processes smoothly on progressive die. The characteristics of progressive die structure, vital bending part and auxiliary blanking structure of air nozzle were introduced. Multi-position progressive die of U-shaped cross-section arc stampings was successfully developed, which reached an accuracy of 0.02 mm for positioning.  The precision of stamping parts on both sides and overall arc radius were realized. The production efficiency has been increased two times higher than that of before.
