Abstract:

In cross wedge rolling, rolled pieces are forced by two directions compressive stresses and single direction tensile stress,and the core defects such as core loose and crack and so on could be created. The forming processes of rolling thread shafts in cross wedge rolling were simulated by using Deform-3D in different cases. The variation characteristics of stress and strain for parts which are easily to generate defects in core were theoretically analyzed under various conditions, and the influence rules of change rate of tooth height and helix angle on core quality of rolled pieces were obtained. The results show that when the change rate of tooth height is bigger or the helix angle is selected with the calculated value as the diameter size of thread tooth, the stress and strain in the center of rolled pieces are smaller. No core defects appear inside the thread shaft when selecting appropriate process parameters.
