Abstract:

Air bending is widely applied in small batch sheet bending for its good universality and high efficiency. However the machining precision is difficult to maintaining, especially the punch downward displacement which is directly relative to the forming angle. In order to improve the precision, trial and error method is often applied to reach the demand step by step, and an abundant experience requirement for the processing personnel is of necessity. The theoretical derivation of punch downward displacement when air bending was deduced, and a theoretical calculation method corrected by angle database was put forward. Based on the above mentioned method, experiments were conducted under different bending angles with different thicknesses of Q235 and stainless steel. After twice bending, the angle error can be controlled within ±0.5°, which satisfies the requirement of the GB/T 14349-2011 standard. The method has already been applied in the independent numerical control system HNC-SPB60 for sheet bending machine.
