Abstract:

Based on CAE, the effects of stamping process parameters (blank holder force, coefficient of friction, height of draw bead and die clearance) on the formability of an automotive sidewall plate were investigated by orthogonal experiment. The maximum thickness reduction and deformation insufficiency of the sidewall plate were examined by range analysis. And then the process parameters were optimized for the maximum thickness reduction and deformation insufficiency respectively. The results show that the blank holder force affects obviously the formability of the sidewall plate. The optimization of the process parameters obtained by the orthogonal experiment results can effectively reduce the max. thickness reduction and deformation insufficiency.
