Abstract:

Multiple grippers stretch forming (MGSF) is a new flexible stretch forming technology for sheet metal. A finite element model of the spherical parts was built by finite element software, the impact of different technics modes and process parameters on the forming quality of the parts was studied. The results show that sheet metal parts formed by MGSF attaches die more easily, its strain distribution is more uniform and its forming quality gets better than that formed by traditional stretch forming mode. The less is friction coefficient between the sheet metal and die, the less is thickness reduction. The transition zone is shortened, wrinkling defect is avoided and material utilization is improved in the MGSF. The simulated results were validated by experiments. The obtained achievements are useful for the optimal design of MGSF equipment and the plasticity processing study of practical sheet.
