Abstract:

An automobile lower arm has been fabricated in a prototype form by hydroforming with the aids of experimental method. According to the loading case of the automobile lower arm, its modified structural design is presented, and the forming process is analyzed to meet the requirement of the hydroforming work-piece structure. Under the given experimental condition, the hydroforming process of automobile lower arm is experimentally studied where the influences of main process parameters are considered, such as the internal hydraulic pressure, the axial feeding, and the tool geometry on the forming performance. The results show that the suggested process design has a potential value to develop the hydroforming technique of producing the automobile lower arm product.
