Abstract:
Applying 2D axisymmetric elastic\|plastic FEM, the simulations of multi-pass drawing of copper tubes are carried out with the aid of nonlinear FEM software Marc. The paper analyzes the influence of mechanical properties of copper tubes by 5-pass drawing and 4-pass drawing with floating plugs. The simulation results show that reducing the number of drawing passes can bring residual stress down and lead to better surface finish and closer dimensional tolerance.
