Abstract:
Because the shape of spiral bevel gear is complex and the curve of the gear tooth is so long and spiral ,the spiral bevel gear is difficult to be processed by conventional methods. The disadvantage of over large load during the die forging process of spiral bevel gear can be overcome by rotary forging process. Using finite element method,the process of rotary forging of spiral bevel gear was studied,and deformation and load at every stage were analyzed. For the large flash and the excessive load,the improvement of the punch profile was proposed. As a result,the area of the flash reduces and the load decreases by 1/3. Through the lead specimen test,the tooth filling process during the process of rotary forging of spiral bevel gear is verified,which demonstrates that the process of rotary forging of spiral bevel gear is feasible.
