Abstract:
By taking two typical straight-long-axle die forgings with big cylindrical head in the middle or in the end as the research objects,the relation of blank sizes and filling effect was investigated by combining numerical simulations and physics experiments when finish-forging directly without performing. The results show that some die forgings which need necking according to regulations of traditional literatures can finish-forge directly (stock utilization is more than 70%),when the ratios between the sectional area of blank and maximum sectional area of forgings (F0/F1 ratio) reaches to acertain value. The filling effect of forging horizontally is better than vertically,and forging with head in the middle is better than that in the end. Meanwhile,the great relation of filling effect and deformation velocity is verified and the results are expected to provide reference for the technological design of small die forgings.
