Abstract:

A flexible rotary forging process was proposed and studied.Based on multi-point adjusting method,the upper roller in rotary forging was replaced with a flexible roller which was supported by a series of numerical controlled rod.By adjusting the height of each supporting rod,the shape of the flexible roller could be changed accordingly.With the self-rotation of the flexible roller,the workpiece was formed under the compressive force.Using finite element analysis technology,the feasibility of this technique was studied.The metal flow affecting the mechanical properties was analyzed with point tracking technique.The total Z load and load on each supporting rod were calculated.And the forming defects easily occurred during flexible rotary forging were simulated.Two improved techniques were put forward to prevent the defects.
